Fire and Smoke

Add Smoke to Fire from Doug Holder on Vimeo.

This is a mini example of how I go about adding smoke to a fire sim, or rather pulling smoke out of a sim that already has the elements of smoke in it you just can't see it yet. Anyway, if you are looking for something that shows you how to make a fire sim.....you wont find it here. This is just how I like to add some quick smoke elements to my fire sims if the need should arise.

cool man, good tips.

If you were fleshing this out more how would you go about making the smoke look like it is illuminated by the fire? If your rendering your smoke and fire separately would you achieve this in post? Or would you use your color curve to do it?

I would probably do something like that in post. Mainly due to the fact that it's easier to control something like that on the fly in comp. Having to re render that effect over and over would only consume too much time.
